Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation Review
What it claims : Lock-It Foundation rocks so hard! Creamy and pigmented, it's the only long-wear liquid formula we can count on to create a perfect canvas. One little pump is all it takes to even out discoloration, stop shine and hide blemishes! The coverage is AMAZING, whether you apply with a brush or a sponge. And it's so long-wear, we can go a full 24 hours without touching up or re-applying (Kat herself has put this to the test). That velvety matte finish will stay flawless through hell or high water! Science nerds, pay attention! Formulated with 21% pigment, our powerful potion is loaded with proprietary pigments plus an exclusive blend of siliconic elastomers and siliconic esters which bind the formula, so your foundation stays fade-free and transfer-proof! Lock-It, you always have us looking and feeling like a total goddess. The bottle features an innovative airless chamber design that prevents contamination and maintains Lock-It's rich consistency. That means you get a fresh, precisely measured dose with every pump!
I was very excited to get this foundation as I've heard many good things about the Kat Von D Lock-It Foundation. It is creamy and a matte finish yet doesn't look dull. I am a full coverage kind of person and it met up to my expectations with its full coverage and pigmentation. I do agree that it is a long-lasting foundation but I don't think it can last 24 hours. You don't need a lot of product when using this foundation so a little does go a long way. It requires a bit of blending so it doesn't look cakey.
It does have a wide range of shades. It actually took me quite a while to find a good match because I was experimenting with different shades.
It does oxidize a little, but it isn't that bad. As it is a full coverage foundation, it is a little heavy on your face. This is a mattifying product and clings to dry patches after a few hours so I recommend using a moisturizer in these dry spots. I had to work with it quite a bit to find the right combination to give it a flawless finish.
What I disliked about it : The foundation is not waterproof which disappointed me after reading Kat Von D's description of the foundation (That velvety matte finish will stay flawless through hell or high water! Spoiler alert : It does not). The foundation either slips right off my face or gets very streaky when I was caught in the rain. Also, I found that it settled into my pores and fine lines after a whole day of wearing this foundation.
Overall rating: 3/5.
